How we score suppliers
Every supplier we list earns a single ContainerMondo Score from 1.0 to 5.0 — our own independent read on how dependable they are to buy a container from, shown as a star rating so it's easy to compare at a glance. Here's exactly what shapes it, and what it leaves out on purpose.
The basics
What the number means
The ContainerMondo Score is a single rating from 1.0 to 5.0, shown to one decimal place and as a five-star rating. The higher the score, the more dependable a supplier has proven to be to buy from.
It's assigned independently. We don't take payment to lift a score, and a supplier can't buy a better one. Every supplier we list is checked before any score is given, so the number isn't answering “should this company be listed?” — it's answering “how strong is this one next to every other supplier in the same state?”
Two things worth remembering about us: ContainerMondo connects you with suppliers — we don't sell, own, or deliver containers ourselves — and the score rates the supplier, not any single container in their yard.
The inputs
What shapes a supplier's score
Three things shape the number, and we pull them from public, checkable sources — customer reviews, business records, certifications, and a supplier's own website — never from marketing claims alone.
Web reputation
PrimaryWhat real buyers say across the web: the Google rating and how many reviews back it up, plus BBB, Yelp, and any themes that come up again and again — good or bad. We read for patterns rather than single reviews, and weigh red flags like clusters of complaints, damage disputes, or repeated late deliveries.
Verified business & inventory
PrimaryThe checkable facts about the company: how long it has operated, the real range of containers it offers (sizes, types, and condition grades), whether it can modify or customise units, and any certifications or trade memberships. We also look at how clear its own website is — actual specs, grades, and terms, not sales fluff.
Track record
SupportingHow the supplier performs over time: delivery reliability, honest condition grading, how disputes get handled, and a steady, clean standing rather than a recent run of complaints.
Why this weighting? Buying a container means trusting someone to grade it honestly and put it on your site on the day promised — so reputation and the verified facts about a business carry the most weight. A big yard with shaky delivery scores lower here than its size alone would suggest. That's deliberate.

What we record but don't score
A couple of things sit on a supplier's profile for your information, but never move the number up or down:
How wide they deliver
The number of depots a supplier runs and how far they deliver. A specialist that serves one metro well can score exactly the same as a statewide operator — reach isn't the same thing as quality.
Local vs national
Whether a supplier is a local independent or a national chain. Neither earns points for what it is; each is judged purely on how it performs.
By design
What the score leaves out
The big one is price. Most suppliers don't post container prices publicly, and a real price depends on size, condition, any modifications, delivery distance, and the local market on the day. With no fair way to line prices up across the board, scoring on price would be a guess — so we rate what we can verify and leave you to gather two or three real quotes and compare them directly.

Reading the score
What each score means
Every published score falls into one of four levels. The level sets how a supplier is shown — and the lowest one decides whether it appears at all.
A standout. Strong reviews, a deep and varied lineup, clear credentials, and a solid delivery record. The kind of supplier you can call with confidence.
Dependable and professional. Good reviews and a clear lineup. Maybe without the credentials or scale of the top level, but it gets the core job right.
Clears our bar, with gaps to know about. Perhaps a thinner lineup, fewer reviews, or less public detail. Still a fair option to keep on your shortlist.
Doesn't make the cut. A supplier that scores here is held back and left off the directory — you'll never see a score below 3.5 on a live page.
